One doesn't have to
have alot of ability or training in order to enjoy dancing, because there is probably a dancer in everyone.
One can dance for the sheer pleasure of it, for the discipline it engenders,
for the opportunities it presents for self-expression, for the strength
it builds or for the fantasies it fulfills.
Amateurs are the newest, fastest-growing dancers in the country. They
dance primarily for the enjoyment - to relax, keep in shape, improve body
awareness, and to make new friends. Dancing is the ideal way to stay in
shape, at once by developing strength and endurance as well as stretch
and flexibility.
Classes We Offer:
Jazz
Whatever the dancer's motive may be, Jazz dance is appealing because
of its energy and variety. Jazz dance movements can be sharp or smooth,
quick or slow, exaggerated or subtle.
Although Jazz dance is viewed as a performing art and means of creative
expression, it is also an excellent way to achieve physical fitness. Consistant
class participation will lead to improved dance skill and enhanced physical
fitness. Some students may notice increased flexibility, whereas others
may note a change in muscle tone.
Tap
Regardless of your age, sex or physical shape, there is nothing to fear
in tap. You can't hurt yourself and you'll probably tone up some muscles
(especially in the legs) and improve your posture in the course of practice.
If you think of yourself as physically uncoordinated, tap can only improve
coordination. It will teach you a vocabulary of sounds and counting, with
concentration you are bound to learn how to build the sounds with your
feet. Because your ears will tell you of your success, the satisfaction
is immediate as well as gratifying. The glory of tap dancing is that it
can always lift us to that happiest point.
Ballet
Ballet develops discipline, body posture, placement and technique, along
with coordination, grace and poise. Emphasis is placed on developing the
students at a pace in which they will learn proper technique. Ballet is
the basic foundation of all dances. This class teaches the discipline
and exercise of ballet with a fun and light approach.
