Dancing as a medium of Child Education

Most parents today are willing to give their children every educational advantage. What every parent does not recognize is that the development of poise, charm, coordination and cooperation in group activities are important.

One of the best mediums for effecting the educational adjustment of children of any age is the complete program of dance instruction.

Learning to dance well will give the child poise and self confidence. It will develop physical and natural coordination and the grace that comes from dance.

Learning to coordinate with the group and follow detailed instructions teaches the child social responsibility, appreciation of music and rhythm. Dance education offers the opportunity to appreciate one's own accomplishments and the accomplishments of others.

Classes we offer:

Tap

Tap - Ages 5 and up
Tap is a very exciting form of dance for young children. It helps with learning body control, coordination and rhythm. In the beginner stage of a child/adult in Tap, basic steps and simple combinations are introduced. Tap is fun and a very good way to exercise. You can tap to any music or make your own music with your feet. Tap shoes are like drums. They are instruments of rhythm.

Ballet

Pre-Ballet (Pre-School) - Ages 4-6
In this class, children are introduced to the art of dance through music, motion and play. Students work to establish body awareness, flexibility, coordination and basic motor skills. A variety of props and music will be used. Students will learn basic steps in Ballet and Tap while learning how to follow direction and become familiar with class structure. The class is designed for the children to have fun and at the same time to feel good about themselves. This class will allow the young dancer to make a much easier transition into a more formal class of any style at age 6.

Ballet - Ages 6 and up
Ballet is true, the foundation of all forms of dance. It will help to achieve strong body placement and posture, control of movement and promote self-discipline. Basic positions of the feet and arms, proper alignment, ballet vocabulary, barre exercise and center work will be taught.

Note: A child has everything to gain from ballet training. It is a healthy exercise, it helps build a strong body, promotes good posture and graceful carriage - all which adds up to poise. Dance is also one of the most fundamental means of self-expression. It is an excellent release for feelings and emotions.

Jazz

Jazz - Ages 12 and up
